Bonham Public Library's
Teen Library Council

The Bonham Public Library is creating a Teen Library Council (TLC) made up of teen volunteers (Grades 8-12) who are interested in being part of the library's programs and services aimed at their peers.

WHAT WE DO?

The TLC's goal is to promote library services to tweens and teens in the community at the Bonham Public Library by:
  • Advising, planning and implementing teen programs.
  • Consulting on design of the Teen website.
  • Writing articles, reviews and creative works for the Teen website.
  • Promoting ideas, reading, programming and expression by and for teens by creating displays in the YA area.
  • Recommending books, graphic novels, movies, and magazines for the YA collection.

HOW MUCH TIME COMMITMENT IS REQUIRED?

  • Commitment for 1-year of service.
  • Meet monthly for 1-hour to discuss the agenda and needs of the TNT program.
  • Assist, plan and participate in library programs, and volunteer for various library projects.

WHAT DO I GET OUT OF IT?

  • Leadership development
  • A voice in materials and programs for TNT
  • Opportunity to be creative and expressive through art and imaginative activities.
  • Community service involvement
  • Extracurricular activity for college and job applications

HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER?

The library is currently taking applications to be a Teen Library Council  Member for a term of one (1) year.  It doesn't matter what school you attend -- private, public or home school.  We want ideas and input from every part of Fannin County to help make our teen events the best!

If you are interested in participating in the TLC, complete the application and submit it at the front desk or mail it to:
