How to Get a Library Card
Library cards are available free of charge to all Texas residents, age 5 or older, with picture identification (for example, a driver’s license) with proof of residence (If you are not current on your driver’s license, you may bring in a current utility bill, etc.). Those 16 years of age and younger must have a parent or legal guardian present to register for a Bonham library card. You may self-register for a new library card if you have never had a card with us before. If you need a replacement card, please visit the library and present a picture ID. Cost for a replacement card is $5.00 per card.

Cards for Out-of-State Patrons
Out-of-state patrons may obtain a library card for an annual fee of $10 per individual.
Replacing a Card
There is no charge for your first library card. If a card is lost, there is a $5 replacement fee. To obtain a card, adult patrons must present:
Message numbers will not be accepted as home phone numbers. Patrons must have a working phone in order to receive interlibrary loans or to borrow material.
Register Your Child
Children over the age of 5 may register for their own library card. Children under 17 years of age must be registered by a parent or legal guardian. The parent / guardian must provide us with a valid driver's license with a correct address or provide proof of correct address. They must pay any amount owed on their own card and return all overdue items before obtaining a child's card. The parents must have a library card and be in good standings.

Checking Out Materials
Library materials other than reference and genealogy may be checked out for two (2) weeks. Items may be renewed up to three (3) times if there are no holds or requests for those items. DVD's may be checked out for one week.
Checkout Limits per Library Card – 25 total items out at one time in the following options:
· Books - 25
· DVDs - 5
· CD or MP3 Audiobooks - 5
Patrons may place up to two (2) Hold Requests for materials not available for checkout due to being on order or currently checked out to another patron.
There are three options for renewing items:
- On location: Bring the item to the circulation desk.
- By phone: Call 903-583-3128. (You will need your library card number.)
- Via the Internet: Renew your items through the library catalog website https://bonham.biblionix.com/catalog/ click on the word “Display”. You will be prompted to enter your username and password. The default username is the first letter of your first name and your last name (ex: jsmith for Joe Smith). The default password is your library card number. After logging in you may change this information to a more personalized setting.
Materials may be returned inside during open hours:
Monday - 9:00 am to 7:00 pm
Tuesday through Thursday – 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
Friday - 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Saturday – 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
You may also return materials at the book drop located at the front of the building.
- $0.15 per day per item – Books and Audiobooks
- $1.00 per day per item – DVD’s
Late fees are not applied during days the library is closed.
Library materials may not be checked out if fines have accumulated to $10.00 or more. Patrons who have lost or damaged library materials will be charged for the full replacement cost of the item plus an additional $5.00 processing fee.
(**Failure to return library items constitute the offense of Theft as described in Chapter 31 of the Penal Code of the State of Texas. Each item can be a separate offense or the value of the items can be added together to enhance the penalty for the offense. The Bonham Public Library may file criminal charges for items not returned.**)
